✣ He stated that compute isn’t just king; it’s the future’s currency and is poised to become the globe’s most precious commodity in the coming years.

🍏 Apple Eyes Google’s Gemini AI for iPhone Integration

The Bytes:

✣ In a total 180 from yesterday, news broke today from Bloomberg that Apple is in active discussions with Google to license the Gemini AI engine for integration into the newest operating system release.

✣ The potential deal could see Apple leveraging Google’s large-language models (yeah the ones that have been the source of a ton of controversy as of late) to power a whole host of AI processes on the iPhone.

✣ While Apple has been developing its own AI system and LLM, the talks with Google suggest a strategic partnership to utilize Google’s established cloud-based AI resources.

Why you should care: In my opinion, this would be a disaster and would suggest Apple admits they can’t compete in AI. To quit building a robust in-house AI offering would be a huge mistake. All eyes are on Apple as we head into WWDC in June. Sentiment was not great today after this announcement broke.
