✣ OpenAI’s CTO Mira Murati sat down for an interview with the Wall Street Journal to talk about Sora, a cutting-edge AI tool capable of generating high-quality videos from textual prompts alone.
✣ Murati claimed Sora is set to be released by 2024, but it is currently still in the research and red teaming phase which could take months.
✣ Notably, to me, Murati seemed to become flustered when asked about what data Sora was trained on. Watch that section here.
✣ OpenAI envisions this will amplify creativity and what’s possible, but also must undergo careful planning due to its disruptive nature. They are treading carefully.
Why you should care: Sora’s introduction is a game-changer for creatives everywhere. It promises to simplify the video creation process, making it possible to produce professional-grade visuals with just a few lines of text. It was good to get an update for Murati, and I’m excited to give it a try.
